Sexy monkeys…

More proof that there is little to differentiate between male humans and monkeys.

In a study to be detailed in the March 2005 issue of Current Biology, researchers at Duke University Medical Center in the U.S. have shown that male monkeys will pay to look at pictures of female monkey bums. (The “payment” is in terms of giving up juice rewards in exchange for being able to gawk at the monkey porn.)

…and the apes who adore them.

The researchers also found that the monkeys will pay to look at pictures of high-ranking monkeys in their community, which they say is akin to humans buying People magazine. Furthermore, the researchers had to pay the monkeys extra to look at pictures of low-ranking monkeys.

There is a world of comedy to be derived from this, but I like monkeys too much to make fun of them. Perhaps it’s some kind of… fraternal empathy. In the meantime, I can think of a few business opportunities, but they’ll only work if Paypal strikes a deal with Tropicana.
