The other day I happened upon a Web site that has some kind of salary survey for people in marketing. Naturally, I checked it out, but it did me no good at all. For one thing, all it gives is survey results yet it calls itself a calculator. Also, it only applies to the U.S. The worst part is that most of the categories I looked at had few or no respondents.
For example, in the category writer in the telecommunications industry, in all locations, mid-sized company, 3-5 years marketing experience, there was a sample size of one. And it was a woefully underpaid one at that.
But that’s not why I’m telling you about it. Rather, it’s because there’s something weird and creepy about the landing page. Go there now and see if it creeps you out too. (Hint: be patient. Wait 10 or 15 seconds…)
