Sunset at the Party Church. Some locals refer to the Santa Cruz Portuguese Church of Montreal as "the party church" because of the parties, parades, and other celebrations that occur there on a regular basis during the warm months of the year. Streets are often blocked to regular traffic as parades make the rounds of the neighbourhood blasting garish Euro-pop devotional songs. Young boys and girls decked out in church clothes ride the floats while proud parents beam with delight. All the while music blares from the church's parking lot amid the smoke of outdoor grills, the ribbons and balloons, and the colorful flags. Everyone has a great time.
