Tulum
There was an Internet cafe nearby, where you could sit on mats and email home via a wireless connection to a service in the town of Tulum (about two kilometres away). The "hotel zone" at Tulum has the beach at the front and the jungle at the back. As such, there is a lot of wildlife. These harmless and slow-moving guys were all over the place. (When I was in Tulum the previous year I didn't see any of these insects -- but that was in February, so perhaps they are seasonal.)
