Pecorino and Pear Mousse

Pecorino and Pear Mousse

Rome

On Martine's birthday we went to this nice place on Via Coronari in Rome. It's humbly called "Cantina del Vecchio" but don't be fooled by the name –- it ain't no cantina.

Martine started with a peccorino cheese and pear mousse (in the foreground), which prompted her to say "If this is what 40 tastes like, bring it on."

That's me in the background tucking into some kind of swordfish roll stuffed with pistachios.

For "secondi" Martine had pork tenderloin with black truffle sauce and I had an Angus beef steak with a vegetable mousse and sautéed celery root.
