Italiana

Loyal readers know that, in general, I prefer cooking Italian to cooking French. They also know that I generally ignore requests from people or companies to shill their products and Web sites, unless, that is, they provide something I’d like to have, like free books. Even then, according to my policy (see “Blork’s endorsements & sponsorships policy,” under “More Blork” in the sidebar) I disclose any such gifts or compensation, and I assert my right to speak freely on the thing in question, particularly if I don’t like it.

I almost ignored a recent email from someone at Italiana, a UK-based Web site dedicated to Italian cooking. It was a request to check out the site and to link to it if I liked it. Apparently it’s not a commercial venture, just something done for the love of Italian food.

I checked it out, and I’m happy to say it’s actually a pretty darn good and useful site. It bills itself as “an extensive guide to Italian cuisine” and is full of recipes and cooking tips, and lots of fun and interesting background information and lore in its more than 100 articles. I’m adding it to my sidebar links – not because they asked me to, but because I want to. Don’t believe me? Check it out for yourself!
