So many photos
We got back from Italy last night. I took over 700 photos over there, plus Martine took several hundred more. Don’t worry — we’ll edit.
I’m waiting for my bag to arrive (Air France liked it so much they left it in Rome). They say it will be here tonight. Fortunately, my camera and memory cards were with my carry-on bag.
In the meantime, I’m having fun reviewing all those photos. I’ve put a few featuring Martine up on Flickr, starting here. More to come…

Welcome back! If the pics are any indication, you had an incredible trip.
Got to love Air France and their notorious ability to lose luggage. We flew them to Porto on our honeymoon, but our bags stayed in Paris — for 6 days. They finally caught up with us in Lisbon. Thank goodness I’m one of those obsessive carry-on packers…
Welcome home! Great piccies - looking forward to seeing more. Did you wave at us as you flew by?
Heh Susan, I was going to tell Ed your Air France story. What is it with them and losing luggage?!
I dunno, but transferring through CDG seems to be a major culprit. This is kind of an amusingly scary summary of one traveller’s experience around the same time as mine. While some details differ, the jist remains the same (particularly the “incompetant staff” bit).

One thing no one from Air France bothered telling us until very late was that they give you monetary compensation for each day your luggage is delayed.
Susan, how does one go about getting this monetary compensation? In my case it was only two days, but still…
I’ll have to double-check with the hubby, since he was handling the details. But if I recall the information was printed in the fine print of our ticket — compensation was 50$ (euros?) per day that it was delayed.
You should contact the airline as soon as possible though, since I believe there was a rather short timeframe in which to register your claim.
Gonna go out on a limb here and say that your you-can-run-but-you-can’t-hide Ashby, Sydney, Nova Scotia, Maritime attitude raised flags and they’re still dusting the remains of your remotely exploded luggage. You can take the boy outta da bay, but you can’t take da bay outta boy” - Looking forward to the pictures… the sneak preview was great!
Fagged out, are we?
