Blue Metropolis

Categorized under Books

Blue Metropolis starts today. That’s the big multi-lingual literary festival that was started only six years ago. It’s grown considerably, and is now quite the production, with dozens and dozens of readings, panels, workshops, and love-ins featuring writers from all over the world and in many languages.
Unfortunately, their Web site has been down for […]

I told you so…

Categorized under Food and Drink

Faithful readers know my declaration that Amelio’s Pizza in the McGill ghetto makes among the best — if not the best pizza in Montreal. Amelio’s makes thick crust, thick cheese, thick sauce Chicago style pies that are fresh and tasty. They are real gut busters because you just can’t stop eating until the whole pie […]

Pasta with Leeks, Grapes, and Pernod

Categorized under Food and Drink, Recipes

Today’s best headline is […]

My calling…

Categorized under Moi

Alas, I may have missed my calling in life. Had I known there was a career to be had as a “Chief Mustarder” or even a “Chief Mustard Officer,” I would have planned my life differently. Really. No really. I’m not being sarcastic here, really, I’m not!

(Psssst! Don’t forget, it’s Monday Morning…)

Rice vs. orzo

Categorized under Food and Drink

Sometimes the ol’ noggin takes a few days off and leaves me struggling to function in the absence of cerebral activity. Take last week, for example. I was making a red Thai curry and decided to have some rice with it. I put the rice in the rice cooker and 15 minutes later it went […]
